There is Always an Opportunity to Teach!

Teaching is as Easy as A B C, 1 2 3!

"I can't teach them, I am not a teacher!?"

I have heard that before and that is PISH POSH!
You do not need a degree to teach your child at home. Matter a fact, you are teaching them and you don't even know it.  From infancy children learn, learning to pick their head up, roll over, crawl etc. Did you know, responding to an infant when they cry is a learning experience? You are teaching them to trust that when they cry you will respond. So children learn as soon as they are born. The early years of a child is the most crucial to their development.

First, if you understand that the early years are crucial then you are off to a great start.
Children love to learn and they absorb everything around them like sponges. Children are our leaders of tomorrow. It is our job to help them reach their full potential. Starting them as early as you can encourages the love for learning.

Making everything they do a lesson is a great idea. For example,
the moment they wake up start teaching them how to make their bed, brush their teeth, clothe themselves; these are all great lessons to teach them about personal care and health/well being.

Being present is important. Having simple conversations that exercise their vocabulary and work their little brains are other ways to encourage their communication skills.
I like to ask questions I already know the answer to, to my child, which will
allow her to exercise her mind and answer the question to the best of her knowledge. Not only does it teach her how to think but makes for a pretty hilarious conversation.

Reading a book to your child, like mentioned in a previous post, encourages the love for literacy. From birth, children learn to love the sound of your voice and the idea of language.  Before bed my daughters pick a book, one each, and I read it to them. Reading does not have to be boring! We have an Alphaprint book by Roger Priddy that my youngest loves to read every night because we like to sing it to her in different melodies. My point is, that children love books especially if you are animated with it. The book will be linked below if you are interested.

ALPHAPRINTS: ABC

ALPHAPRINTS:123

These two books are offered in different options, you can have the board book (Which I have) or Kindle version through amazon. Both books
teach our children the alphabet and how to count, especially if your children have you read it every night (like ours, lol). Or if you are interested in browsing for more books on amazon, here are some of amazon's best seller children books. https://amzn.to/3d5sF11

I am thinking that many parents think that it is hard to teach their child at home. But little do you know you are the number one person they learn from. I am here to encourage you that you can and you should teach your kid. If I can do it, you can. Teaching your children will not only be fun for them but can be for you too! I encourage all of you to take the time out of your day to teach your child something new.  If there is something you can take out of this blog post is that everyday is an opportunity to teach and an opportunity for your
 child to learn.
